Our Junior footballers took on Knocknagree in the first round of the Duhallow Football Championship on Sunday at a superbly prepared Boherbue venue. We went into the match as underdogs after a poor showing in the league so far. Things were not looking good when Knocknagree jumped into an early 4 point lead but the team responded well and after settling recovered to trail at half time by 0-04 to 0-06.

Knocknagree again started the better in the second half and led by 0-09 to 0-04 after 40 minutes. Our lads then responded well by scoring two goals and two points in the next ten minutes to lead by 2-06 to 0-11, the game was now well and truly up for grabs and with chances going a begging at both ends over the next seven minutes the next score was crucial and that went to Knocknagree when they got two points in quick succession. Kilbrin battled bravely but could not convert their possession into scores and in the end lost out on a final scoreline of 0-14 to 2-06.

The team performed well and can look forward to round two and if they can convert some more of their scoring chances are well capable of staying in the championship.
